I agree with that but it will hurt honest farmers imo.

Oh no, an other 'Bergen bot thread'.
When the Dragon festival was running, 'bot' activity there was far lower than before, so my bet is that there are also a lot of human players 55-ing there.
Also, there are several ways to solve this, those spitits, necro's and mesmers being a couple of them.
I am sure A-net knows about the spot and when they do care, they can nerf it easily.
Now can we stop these kinds of bot threads?

when the dragon festival was on the reason bot activity was down is because people who bot also play the game as well and they where all at the dragon festival i no i was

^^ ... your statement could very easily be taken to imply that you are a botter.. not sure if that is what you intended or not..
I have come to the conclusion that botters will most likely continue to exist until and unless Anet staff start jumping in game themselves and use extreme prejudice and ban obvious botlike activity manually on a large scale over an extended period of time. An environment of 'acceptable' botting levels appears to exist at times, in Anets eyes. Impo botting isnt accceptable and if it was my game id lay the smack down as a matter of principal ;p I can at any time log into the known botting areas and can easily catch 5-30 bots at any given time. If i can, Anet can.
That being said, i wont 'complain' about botters (except trade spam bots) anymore because the easy 'fix' (which isnt a fix at all) is for Anet to nerf farming for everyone, to slow down the bots. That is not a good solution. (ie I wouldnt like the op's suggested change)
As it is, solo farming atm isnt an easy quick way to become a millionaire lol
Ive been tinkering with 55ing recently and there is a learning curve and quite a long expense curve as well and its not a magical hax to suddenly give you all your ingame desires. Its slow and repetitive, only 2-4 times more efficient than partying and most definately a lonely grind.

I'm pretty sure botters don't use their main account as bots. They'd be playing on another account while their bot is still hard at work.

no matter what is nerfed/modified bots and legit and illegit farmers will always find a work around or somewhere else to do it.
it is funny though, all the monks in arborstone in one never ending line...like parasites.

You see, nerfing one area to farm doesn't really do anything. Botters will just move and farm another place that is slightly less profitable (they don't wouldn't care). The only way to get rid of botters is to actively ban their accounts to the point where selling gold online becomes unprofitable (ie the gold farm sites end up spending more money on buying new game cd keys/internet access then they make selling gold online). If a.net can kill the profitablity of gold selling, it will go away.

I found that there is a great way to counter them and not hurt normal farmers (to much anyway). have some anti 55 dudes wander, just some mesmer with enchant removal degen that kind of thing but make them avoidable, basicly a normal person can use thir brain do a little pulling and some avoiding and they are fine, a bot cannot do this...

A.net should just hire a bunch of moderators that can ban people at their discretion and introduce an appeal system in case they make mistakes. Problem solved at no expense to the common player.

If they have a set path, then yes the bots could. There's no reason a bot couldn't pull the same way a normal player does.
Really, the only good solution is to ban them. That's already being done, so there's nothing more to say.

Bots are bad, yes. Very bad, but most of the "anti-bot" suggestions I see here fall into the trap of hurting legitimate farmers just as much.
The legitimate farmers have already been practically shut down by Loot Scaling to the point where typical income for the 55 can be as low as only around 2x that of just playing normally with a full party - probably less actually when you consider that it's quicker to just clear an area with a full party.
Bots don't give a shit how low the income is - their numbers are currently limitless it seems and they can run 24/7.
To kill bots you need to nerf the mechanics that allow the bot programs to interface with the game. In the meantime, Anet needs to employ full-time bot-catchers and needs to be more aggressive in banning obvious bot accounts.
Please, no more suggestions that hurt the real farmers. Soloing an area is fun and satisfying and now that the rewards for doing this have been artificially reduced to a tiny fraction of what they once were, I'd say the legitimate farmers have been punished enough, don't you think?
